I agree. That scene is not appropriate for a wedding. My FH wanted to do a toned down version of what the user proposed. He's against us having any references to the movie Up because he thinks it's too sad, but wants to play the reins of castamare and have nerf guns. I don't quite get it.
As I mentioned in the WW thread, I'm compromising by letting the song be played during dinner in the background. I figure since we won't draw attention to it, maybe no one will notice. The op on that thread seemed to maybe be interested in doing the same and then some user validates her idea. Ugh...

I love that song, so I think that I would compromise with the song but probably not the nerf guns. The movie up makes me cry every single time. I had no clue when I took my nephews to see it and cried my eyes out in the movie theatre.

The red wedding is an episode in Game of Thrones where pay off the family is brought into a castle for a the reception reception dinner after a wedding joining the two of them together. And the host family waits till everyone is drunk, locks the doors and slaughters everyone inside - to include the very pregnant at woman and her baby.
It's brutal and horrific.

I think I'm the only person in the world who didn't cry during Up.

All the guests at this bride's red wedding be like... (And this thread just wouldn't be complete without some Jon Snow.)

I cry like a baby at the beginning of Up, but I'm fine the rest of the movie. And no way I would want anything rederencing mass slaughter at my wedding.

Wowza. I LOVE me some GoT, but...no. Just no.
We did a reading from the book, and played "The Rains of Castamere" after our recessional, as people were getting drinks and we headed off for pictures, but that was it. A handful of people noticed and liked the song, but most other people were just like "Oh that's a pretty instrumental song."
Why on EARTH would someone want to reenact such a violent scene at your own WEDDING?! Oi.

Not gonna lie, we tossed around using the GoT vows in our own ceremony, but to re-enact the Red Wedding is morbid IMO

I dunno... sorry you think I'm stupid but I just.. didnt think it was that serious. Its a fictional story. She wanted to incorporate nerf guns. I totally recognized that I was the outlier in feeling that way. I mean, you were totally free to call me out in the thread about it though instead of calling me stupid on another forum. I don't bite.
