So I was just talking to a good friend of mine. He also happens to be one of FHs best friends but we didn't realize until after we had started talking. He's been married almost 2 years now and really wants to have a baby. His wife is kinda eh about it.
He told me this morning that she told him if he bought her a new puppy, since one of their dogs is getting older, then she'd try getting pregnant. I didn't even know what to say to this. lol Anyone else ever heard of their friends bartering for a child?

That's fucked up. I can't imagine saying "i'll give you a baby if you get me a puppy."
That's just fucked up.

Yeah...fucked up. I've never heard of this. Makes you wonder what kind of mom she would be.

Umm....seriously. This is one of those post where "Great Idea" should be applicable. That is seriously the dumbest thing I have ever hear (and I've been on ww for over a year.) If they do have a kid, I feel sorry for it.

I was blown away. I had no idea what to even say to him. They have 2 dogs already and though I don't have pets (except turtles) I do have a kid and she basically sucks the life out of me even still at 3. I love her and I'd never trade being a mom but it's exhausting. I just replied "oh ok" and he answered "yeah so I mean it's a compromise" no dude a compromise would be you wanting a baby now her wanting one in 4 years and you agreeing 2 years is ok. Jesus. I can't even handle my friends anymore.

It sounds as little sketchy but maybe she's worried that if they have a baby she won't get a new puppy for a log time, since the baby will be a priority? I mean, puppies and babies together are the most adorable.
But otherwise, yeah, that's a little messed up.

As a side note... I totally read the title as "Bartending for Babies."
I apparently need a drink.
I've never seen anyone do that before, and that is awful...

This is really sad. Obviously, bartering over something so major is super unhealthy but puppies are A LOT of work and need training and attention. The poor puppy probably won't get the attention he/she will need to be happy and well-adjusted.
:-(

The poor puppy probably won't get the attention he/she will need to be happy and well-adjusted. :-( The saddest part about this is they already know how much work it takes to have a puppy. They have 2 dogs right now and she works at a doggy daycare, so I don't understand how she thinks this would be a good idea.
