I am feeling the bern in a major way. I'm not a big fan of socialism- but I gotta admit- he's totally growing on me.

Local fire department are socialist programs along with a whole host of others. People generally hear socialist and freak out, but it's not the same.

I'm ok with some socialist programs like the fire department, police, schools... and so on. I don't care too much for how the public assistance programs are set up. I would rather see a program to help people get off of assistance. I've been on public assistance before and there was nothing to help me get off of it. If I had a job then I made too much for the daycare program, but at the same time I couldn't afford daycare. It would of been easier for me to give up and just take welfare and food stamps. Luckily I have an awesome man who helped me when I was struggling. But the program didn't help me at all. Having an associates degree didn't help either. That and health care are the main reasons why I don't care much for Bernie. I have government health care (VA) and it is awful. They said that they were going to fix it, and put it out in the news all the changes that they made... They didn't work. It has just gotten worse. I used to work at the one of the VA clinics and their policies suck.
I don't like Trump either. His shit is just getting crazy.
There is so much controversy that surrounds Hillary.
No idea who I will vote for come time.

TiffanyBernie also supports increasing minimum wage, so that working families won't need to rely on welfare! He's the only candidate who is genuinely in it for the people.

mauiwowie I already live in a state with a higher min wage. I still couldn't afford to live on 16$ an hour full time. I have friends who live near Seattle. Their rent just went up from $1400 to $2100 shortly after the min wage increase there. Raising the min wage is just putting a bandaid on a bigger wound. Better daycare programs, free public preschool, training opportunities, better high school education these are the programs that we need.

I made about $2500 a month before taxes. 2100 after taxes. 1200 after rent (900) 800 after gas (100) 650-700 after utilities (100-150) 100-150 after car payment (550) and day care cost 450 a month. But I made too much to qualify for help for daycare. I did get food stamps. And that was when I made 15$ an hour with an associate degree.

Everything you just listed is a "social" program... As in, something you'd have if you lived in a Social Democracy. Still makes Bernie your best bet!

Except Bernie isn't talking about those programs. He is only talking about programs that I am not for. I'm to much in the middle to support any democrat or republican candidates

I voted for Clinton. I've been a fan of Sanders for a long time, but my own policy preferences are a bit more moderate than some of his and I like Clinton's more pragmatic approach on certain issues (e.g. calling for regs on shadow banking and fees for big banks engaging in excessive risk v. abolishing big banks; revisions to Obamacare v. single payer). Because the political system is designed to make it really difficult to effect change, I don't have a lot of confidence in Sanders' more liberal policies being enacted.
That said, I think Clinton has had a bunch of really stupid gaffes in this campaign and it annoys me. I think she has a lot of unfair criticism thrown her way much of the time, but like, FFS, Nancy Reagan? And just release the damn transcripts. Sanders has definitely run a better campaign, IMO. I will certainly vote for him if he is the nominee.
One more thing: I hate the way a lot of supporters have been talking to each other. I see Sanders supporters posting a barrage of bullshit, often sexist memes and calling the cops on people for having Clinton signs in a caucus site (it's legal in caucuses) and Clinton supporters who can't seem to formulate a sentence beyond "socialism bad!" and it's really frustrating. Yay for the civility in this thread!

Ya this thread is pretty awesome. I hate election time. It seems to bring out the crazy in everyone. I know so many people who base who they are going to vote for on Facebook and have no clue what their candidate believes in.

I saw on fox they called on a specialist about socialism...and he fucking trashed them because he had a very thorough argument about how it generally works in x y and z circumstances. It was great. She was motified. Hysterical.

Ya this thread is pretty awesome. I hate election time. It seems to bring out the crazy in everyone. I know so many people who base who they are going to vote for on Facebook and have no clue what their candidate believes in. That drives me crazy! Or, they base it off from a couple of general comments a candidate has made 6 months ago and hasn't heard a word since. Admittedly, I have never taken much interest in politics and still have a lot to learn. But, I want to make sure I'm making an informed decision, not a decision based on the idea of a candidate. The idea of Trump is great. An outside businessman who is known for "making deals". All you have to do is listen to him do a single interview and watch him retort to childish insults and blame. That alone is enough to make me lose respect. Cruz has played into that game and also lost my respect. Kasich is the only one on the Republican side that is remotely reasonable, but doesn't stand a chance. The shit show that is Trump clouds the media while the real issues are being ignored. I'm not crazy about Hilary, I just don't trust her. Anyone can change their mind on a situation, but she seems to change her way of thinking based on what is socially acceptable. I've always thought that marriage should be based on love and not gender. I don't care who marries who, I don't care if a couple who wants to adopt is straight or gay, I don't care.. If you have love, that's what is important. I like Bernie's ideals and his consistency. I don't think Congress will pass many of his proposals, but if we can reach a compromise that benefits the people that would be fantastic. Our country is not completely falling apart as some are trying to lead us to believe. Will we ever make it back to the height of our economic boom, absolutely not. It wasn't sustainable. Are we on the brink of complete melt down, no. Let's be realistic and set obtainable expectations.

This thread has so far been civil because it was full of Bernie supporters.
Now that someone has admitted to being a Hilary fan, I hope it can stay this way.
Because I'm about to point out that Hillary's track record proves that she has been bought and paid for by big money! She was WalMart's attorney! She has changed her stance to suit the trends for decades, and she's still doing it now so that she can seem more like guess who -- Bernie!

Honestly, if she's the nominee I will vote for her but I don't want to. Call me an idealist, but I dont believe that political offices should be bought and paid for by Wall Street. Taking that money in debts you to those corporations and their interests.
Bernie is running campaign without that influences and truly wants to do what will benefit people not big business. I will support that as long as it's an option.

But I like that fact the Bernie doesn't owe allegiance to anyone and him being nominated would speak large volumes in terms of what the people want in a candidate. I love how there hasn't been a real mud slinging campaign against Hillary from him (hats off to Kasich for not hate speaking his opponents as well!). When there is that much hate spreading for your opponent, I feel like you are trying to divert from attention on something you are hiding. If he doesn't get the nomination, I will vote for Hillary, she's a much better option than the alternative.
