This is my 195 squat- I'm quite proud of this- it's the end of my program and it's 1 set of 20 squats- and I have one more lift to do (200 pounds) and it's just nasueatingly tough. but I'm really proud I didn't puke or pass out and I managed to ALMOST have 20 clean squats. I wish I could squat right now, but I'm off squatting until at least August. At lease I can work on the bench once I'm mobile again...

I wish I could squat with that much weight!! Finishing up body beast right now and got myself up a lot higher than I thought I would for weight but I'd definitely like to lift heavier

Takes a lot of time... I've been lifting for almost 20 years. It's taken a long time (almost 4 to get really comfortable above 165 pounds)- you can do it!!!

I've been enjoying the hell out of Orange Theory lately. And now that I'm a bit more confident in myself, I will be next to guys in the weight section of my gym

I cannot WAIT to start weight lifting. I do pretty small weights, as I'm just starting, but weight training days are my favorites. Of course, it figures that the day I had planned to start P90X again, I'm down with a bloody allergy attack. Sinus headache, runny nose, and sneezing. Stupid pollen. How often do you guys lift? Do you have trainers at the gym? Crossfit? I really want to get more into lifting more than just 10 pounds. ETA: Oh duh. Just saw that this was squats/deadlifts, etc. I haven't done much of that yet, but I REALLY want to start!!! I do small weights for arms, chest, shoulders, back, etc. My knees aren't great though, so I feel like I should drop about 50 pounds before attempting any of this...

Nah is okay. Jump on in no worries!
I have been lifting since I was very young. It's helpful to get a trainer to keep you on track with your form but there is plenty of free on line advice and training programs.
Beginner programs for lifting Starting Strength Strong Lifts New Rules Of Lifting Strong Curves.
All great programs to get you going.

https://www.instagram.com/p/zBfsewNYPn This is an old one, my best deadlift was 200 pounds and right now my leg press is around 300 pounds...lifting weights has honestly changed my life! I graduated college at 260 and was very sick and totally unhappy, but once I discovered weight lifting, the pounds started falling off and I found my confidence again! Now I mostly do kickboxing workouts, but still lift weights 1-2x per week and I absolutely loooove it! Edit: here is a link to the video of me hitting 200 pounds on my deadlift, in case anyone wants to see me acting like an idiot at the gym :-P dontcallmecosmo.tumblr.com/post/119608451285/i-just-deadlifted-200-pounds-hows-your-friday

JoRocka that is so impressive. My back squat PR was 175 but I moved and lost my gym. It's very hard to get a squat rack where I am not but I finally kicked my own but last Friday. Did 4 sets of 8 at 95 lbs and couldn't really walk until today. Bench is 65 and I have t done deadlifts in a while... But they were my favorite. I think I PRd at 185. I love your pictures ladies!!!

I did a pimp walk when I nailed my or on my deadlift it was... Extra needless to say! Great job on the lift and overcoming those lifting challenges. I'm a jig believer in lifting helping everyone wherever they are. It's something that's equally humbling to every single person. The bar is the great equalizer. I love it. Lots lol

yasminadlv I joined a crossfit-style gym years ago (they call themselves a performance gym) and loved it. It's where I learned everything. It was small group training focusing on power lifting, agility, plyometrics, coordination, etc... The coaches were sticklers for good form and there was no sense of competition, just community (not hating on CF, you guys are great). I moved too far away to keep going to it so now I just go to XSport. It's a long stretch but I know there a lot of Chicago members here so if you are a lifter and happen to live near me, I'm always looking for a lifting buddy (mine moved..... so sad).
I lift 4 times a week on average. It's pretty much all I do, with a little cardio peppered in. I despise cardio.
